SUBSOL-Βringing coastal SUBsurface water SOLutions to the market
The goal of this project was to pump and treat polluted groundwater, re-supplying clean water to a nearby wetland and recharging the groundwater layers of a nearby coastal aquifer, in order to prevent saltwater intrusion (Central Greece).
During this project Greener than Green Technologies:
⮚ designed and implement the necessary Subsurface Water Solutions (SWS), in order to pump and treat groundwater and reusing it to recharge the upper groundwater layers.
⮚ applied innovative and flexible hybrid water treatment technologies, including:
1. Advanced Oxidation Process (Photocatalysis) coupled with
2. Reverse Osmosis (RO)
⮚ installed the unit in a compact design, inside a commercial container, in order to be transferable and modular for future use.
⮚ employed remote monitoring and operation, so as to provide solutions in similar remote locations.
The design and installation of the specific AOP process ensures the degradation of pollutants under different environmental conditions, pollution concentrations and flow rates, producing water adequate to be processed in an RO unit.
